Allegany County Tax & Utility Office Undergoing Upgrades
The office will be closed and all systems will be down September 15th-18th
August 29, 2023 - The Allegany County Tax & Utility Office is beginning preparations for a substantial software upgrade later this fall. In order to complete the initial updates needed, the office will be closed on Friday, September 15th and Monday, September 18th. During this time, no in-person, self-service, or telephone inquiries/payments can be accepted, as the systems will not be accessible.
It is important that the public be aware of this outage and make arrangements to contact the office or make payments on alternative dates. The last day to make tax payments without incurred interest is September 30th. Quarterly utility bills scheduled for September are also not due until September 30th.
The software upgrade happening in September will prepare the system for future enhancements. Later this fall, residents can expect additional capabilities such as recurring/automatic payments, over-the-phone payments, and additional tender options, including Apple Pay, PayPal and more. Allegany County will continue to absorb the processing fees for all payment methods in an effort to encourage self-service account management.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are excited about the groundwork it lays for upcoming enhancements and appreciate the cooperation of our residents. Any inquiries for additional information may be directed to the Tax & Utility Office, reachable by phone at 301-777-5965.
