About us

mission

Allegany County Transit serves the general public as well as the elderly and persons with disabilities in Allegany County, Maryland with affordable, efficient, and courteous public transportation service. The Transit operates a fixed route bus system and Alltrans, a demand response and ADA Paratransit.

The county provides__ fixed routes and __ demand-response/para-transit routes to link residents with major shopping, medical and employment areas, as well as with public services available in Allegany County.

general information

The fixed route bus  system operates Monday through Friday. All routes originate in Downtown Cumberland on Frederick Street and offers service to:

  • LaVale
  • Cresaptown
  • Frostburg
  • Frostburg State University Campus
  • Midland 
  • Lonaconing
  • Barton
  • Westernport. 

Regular bus fare is $2.00 with NO transfer fees.

All transit routes and paratransit vehicles are wheelchair accessible and will transport any wheelchair or mobility device that does not exceed the weight capacity of the vehicle or its lift or ramp.  The wheelchair lift measures 30 inches wide by 48 inches long.

Drivers make major stop announcements. 

Holiday Schedule

Public Transportation services will not be offered by Allegany County Transit on the listed holidays.
