Solid Waste Management Plan Revision
Geocycle LLC has submitted a Refuse Disposal Permit Application to the Maryland Department of the Environment for accepting, processing, and transfer of industrial waste. The proposed site location of the facility is 17300 Barton Park Drive, Cumberland, MD 21502. The facility will use low speed shredding equipment and metal separators to process industrial waste into a homogenous fuel. It is expected to be operational within 18-24 months. Pursuant to Section 9-503 of the Environmental Article and COMAR 26.03.03.05C Allegany County must revise the 2021-2031 Solid Waste Management Plan to include Geocycle LLC as a solid waste facility in order for permitting to be approved.
The Board of Allegany County Commissioners will conduct a Public Hearing, to review and receive comments on the revision to the Allegany County Solid Waste Management Plan 2021-2031. The hearing will take place Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 5:00 PM, during the Commissioner’s Public Meeting, in room 100 of the County Office Complex, 701 Kelley Road, Cumberland, Maryland.
